Best K-Drama Filming Locations in Korea (2026): Visit Guide
Short version: the four easiest K-drama pilgrimages from Seoul are Nami Island (Winter Sonata), Jumunjin breakwater in Gangneung (Goblin), Gyeongbokgung and Bukchon for anything historical, and the Itaewon slope. Three of the four cost almost nothing.
One honest caveat before the list: a lot of what you see on screen is a set. Interiors are built in studios in Paju and Daejeon, and several famous "places" from Netflix Originals do not exist as visitable locations at all. What follows are the real, public, still-standing places — the ones where you can stand exactly where the scene happened.
🌳 1. Nami Island · Winter Sonata
The tree-lined avenues that launched the entire Korean Wave in Japan and beyond. The metasequoia and ginkgo lanes look exactly as they do on screen, and the island is beautiful in all four seasons — snow in winter, fire-orange in late October.
Getting there: ITX-Cheongchun train from Yongsan to Gapyeong (about 70 minutes), then a short taxi or shuttle to the ferry pier. Full details in our Nami Island day trip guide.

The scene: a girl blows out a candle, and a goblin appears beside her on a seawall with the East Sea behind. That breakwater is in Jumunjin, a fishing port north of Gangneung, and it is still there — usually with a small, cheerful queue of people holding bouquets of buckwheat flowers for the photo.
Getting there: KTX from Seoul (Cheongnyangni) to Gangneung in about two hours, then a local bus or taxi. Combine it with Gangneung's coffee street and Gyeongpo beach for a full day.
🏯 3. Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung & Bukchon · every sageuk ever made
Historical dramas are filmed across Seoul's palaces and hanok districts, and the backdrops need no explanation once you are standing in them. Rent a hanbok nearby and palace admission is free — which is why the courtyards are full of visitors in silk on any given afternoon.

🍢 4. Itaewon & Noksapyeong · Itaewon Class
The bar itself was a set dressed for the show, but the streets, the slope and the Noksapyeong overpass are real and instantly recognisable. Walk up from Noksapyeong station towards Itaewon at dusk and the drama's whole visual language is right there.

🎡 5. Petite France & the Garden of Morning Calm · Gapyeong
The pastel French village used in Secret Garden and My Love from the Star, and a garden that turns into a light festival in winter. Both sit near Nami Island, which is why almost every Gapyeong tour bundles the three.
Getting there: Gapyeong, same trip as Nami Island — the shuttle bus loops between all three.
🏰 6. Daejanggeum Park (MBC Dramia) · Yongin
A purpose-built historical drama village where a large share of Korea's sageuk are shot — palace courtyards, market streets, thatched villages. Because it is a working set, exactly what you see depends on what is filming, but it is the closest thing to walking into a Joseon-era drama.
Getting there: Yongin, about 90 minutes from central Seoul by bus and taxi. Check opening days before you go.
🌾 7. Jeju Island · When Life Gives You Tangerines and friends
Jeju's black stone walls, tangerine groves and coastal roads have carried a decade of melodramas. You are not chasing a single spot here — you are driving a coastline that looks like the show. Rent a car, or take the coastal buses along the west side around Aewol and Hallim.

🐚 8. Pohang · Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha
The fictional seaside village of Gongjin was filmed largely around Pohang on the east coast — the harbour wall, the small-town streets, the sea in every direction. It is a long way from Seoul, but it is the most complete "I am inside the drama" experience on this list.
Getting there: KTX to Pohang, about 2.5 hours from Seoul Station.
🏙️ 9. Seoul's romance backdrops
- Deoksugung Stone Wall Road — the walk that appears in a hundred romance dramas (and one superstition about couples who walk it).
- Naksan Park & the Seoul city wall — night views over the old city, a favourite for confession scenes.
- Han River parks — fried chicken, beer, a picnic mat and a bridge lit up behind you. Pure drama-cliché, genuinely lovely.
- Ihwa Mural Village — hillside alleys covered in murals, used constantly for "struggling young protagonist" scenes.

💡 How to actually find a filming spot
- Search the Korean place name in Naver Map, not Google Maps. Korean users tag drama locations in reviews and photos, and Naver's data is far better locally.
- Check whether it is a set. Interiors — cafés, bars, offices — are usually studio builds in Paju or Daejeon and cannot be visited.
- Go early. Nami and Bukchon are calm before 10am and crowded by noon.
- Some spots are private property. Bukchon in particular is a residential neighbourhood with enforced quiet hours; be a good guest.
- Bundle them. Gapyeong gives you three locations in one day; Gangneung pairs the Goblin breakwater with beaches and coffee.

Can I visit the Squid Game set?
Not the real one — those were purpose-built studio sets. Officially licensed pop-up experiences appear in Seoul from time to time, which is the closest you will get.
Are there guided K-drama tours?

Do I need a car?
