💬 My honest take
This is my comfort show, the one I go back to. It is set in a hospital, but the weight of it sits on friendship and ordinary days rather than medical crisis, so you finish an episode lighter than you started rather than wrung out.
What got me is how normal the friendship feels. They tease each other constantly, they eat a lot, they turn up when it matters and say almost nothing about it. More than once I caught myself thinking "I want friends like this" — which is a strange thing to feel about a show set among surgeons.
Season 2 is just as good as season 1, which almost never happens. And the spin-off, Resident Playbook, is genuinely fun too — I watched that one as well and it holds up on its own if you like the world.
The band is half the pleasure. Every episode ends with the five of them covering an old Korean song, and those covers became hits in their own right. It is the rare drama where the soundtrack is part of the plot rather than decoration.

- You want something warm to end the day with.
- You like ensemble shows where nobody is the villain.
- You want a drama you can watch one episode at a time over a month.

"Yulje Medical Center" is fictional, but the exterior, the main lobby, the emergency-room entrance, the café and some ward corridors were filmed at Ewha Womans University Seoul Hospital in western Seoul. It is a modern, architecturally striking building — which is exactly why the crew used it.
Two things to be clear about. First, this is a fully operating hospital with real patients; if you go, treat it as you would any hospital anywhere — do not wander into wards, do not film staff, keep it brief. Second, most of the interior scenes (operating theatres, offices, the on-call rooms) were shot on purpose-built sets that no longer exist.
🍲 The food, though
Half the show happens over meals, and the restaurants are ordinary Seoul places rather than famous ones. The more useful pilgrimage is simply to eat the way they eat: hospital-canteen-style rice and stew for lunch, fried chicken at midnight, coffee in a paper cup at 3am.
